Mr. Wu had devoted all his life to photography. He had dreamed of building a Chinese Photography Museum, and made many contributions to its establishment. As part of history, he will be remembered in the journey of Chinese photography culture. At his centennial, we organize this exhibition to commemorate him and the history.
吳寅伯簡介
吳寅伯(1910—2004),著名攝影家,中國攝影史上最后的跨越不同時代的大師級人物。江蘇省鎮(zhèn)江市人。1927年開始從事攝影工作。作品《蘆花》1931年入選美國芝加哥博覽會。1933年參與組織蘇州影社。1937年在上海加入黑白影社。曾任蘇州、上海金城銀行辦事員。自1950年參加革命工作后,曾在中蘇友好協(xié)會、人民畫報社、朝華出版社等單位專職從事攝影工作。主要作品有《落日》、《筏》、《歸樵》、《東方紅、太陽升》等。
吳寅伯一生唯嗜攝影。自青少年起,就用玻璃瓶底研磨鏡頭,自制照相機(jī)。在20世紀(jì)30年代,他與郎靜山、吳中行、劉半農(nóng)等名家結(jié)合西洋技法與中國傳統(tǒng)文化,創(chuàng)立了中國攝影的藝術(shù)地位?谷諔(zhàn)爭勝利后,他又參與了“上海攝影學(xué)會”的恢復(fù)組建。新中國成立之前,他的作品便多次參加國際攝影沙龍及國際攝影比賽,并獲得了一些重要獎項。之后,曾獲中國攝影家協(xié)會評選的“中國攝影金像獎終身成就獎”,以及文化部頒發(fā)的國家第二屆“造型藝術(shù)終身成就獎”。
Biography of Wu Yinbo
Wu Yinbo (1910 – 2004), a famous photographer and the last master of Chinese photography that lived across different eras. Born in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, Wu started practicing photography in 1927. His work “Reed Catkins” was selected by the Chicago Expo in 1931. He helped set up Suzhou Photography Club in 1933. After that, in 1937 he joined the Black & White Photography Association in Shanghai. He had previously worked as a bank clerk in Suzhou and Shanghai. After joining revolutionary work in 1950, he became a professional photographer and worked for Sino Russia Friendship Association, People’s Pictorial, Zhao Hua Press, etc. His masterpieces include “Setting Sun”, “Raft”, “Woodcutter Going Home” “The East is red, the Sun Rose”, etc.
Pursuing his only hobby of photography for his entire life, Wu tried to create his own camera when he was a young man. In the 1930s, together with other famous photographers – Lang Jingshan, Wu Zhongxing, Liu Bannong, he combined western photography skills with Chinese traditional culture and created a new era for Chinese photography. After the victory of the anti-Japanese war, he helped to restart the Shanghai Photography Society. Before 1949, his works had participated in international photography galleries and competitions. Wu’s photography has won several important awards, including the “Chinese Photography Awards Lifetime Achievement Award” by China Photographers Association, and the 2nd “Visual Arts Lifetime Achievement Award” by Ministry of Culture.
